I think the machine has more of an effect in close areas - Madzine's district is a safe one, the electorate drinks the grape flavor-aid on a daily basis. If the norms think our 'conspiracy theories' are hard to believe, check out stolen technology from Africa, and similar misinformation that is enshrined as factual in that district. For them to believe anything else would be like Hillary telling us the sky was blue on a summer day...
