If Gowdy is more than a blowhard, and honestly a strict constructionalist, he’s pretty hard to beat.
No massive archive of rulings to pour over and pick through. Member of Congress.
He’d be hard to vote against. Still needs to be completely vetted.
Makes his retirement make sense from a strategic perspective.
Puts McConnell in a position to have to vote him in prior to August too.
Gowdy no. If he’s not on the list, no.
If he wants on a Circuit Court and pay some dues, OK.
