The thing is that it is a LARP - I mean this positively. Here is a clue. Pretend you are an intelligence analyst stuck in an open source world find out what you can about what is going on. An instantly 100,000 computer nerds living in their parents basements are out working all night dredging stuff up. No work internet rules, no meetings to attend, no forms to fill out, no sexual harassment training to take. It's just the smartest guys in the world getting down to business figuring out what is really going on, no rules, no method except whatever their febrile brains can cook up. NSA itself with it's some 30,000 can't do this. First even the best have day jobs - analyze the patterns of wheat shipments between Qatar and the Phillipines or some such. And then like any institution there are the laggards and dullards.
Some more institutionalized efforts are of course useful. Judicial Watch has found invaluable stuff and put it out there. But JW does not have the talent and resources to do what the autists do.
And this marching army of freelance analysts makes sure that nothing is missed. It's splendid really, but it is oh so chaotic. It's, well, it's democratic.

Autists from the Chans HATE Reddit. If you read the threads directly you’ll find many clues. So I don’t think your first sentence was quite correct or else he’d have posted to Reddit in the first place instead of starting at 4chan and moving to 8chan.
In Chan speak no autists on Reddit just a bunch of “nasty f-word for gay people” types haha. Don’t want us to get the vulgarity boot.
