That is one of my favorite movies - Force 10 from Navarone, the follow-up to Guns of Navarone. They were foiled by double agents - they didn't have enough supplies to complete their mission but their explosives expert believed they had enough to take out a dam which would then take out the target. On a suicide mission, the explosives were placed deep in the bowels of the dam. The good guys put everything in place but when they went off the dam was left standing appearing impenetrable. The explosives expert wasn't phased and assured them it was just a matter of time to let mother nature take its toll and within a short time, voila, the dam burst!
