So, while I am sorry about these suicides, I think we’re all missing the obvious...in all these stories, depression was mentioned.

You don’t come across as bitter to me. Rather, you seem determined to spread knowledge that perhaps can be very useful to people who don’t have the insight you unfortunately do. I wish you great success in educating others and am very sorry for your loss.
As for Spade’s husband in a mask, sure he is attempting to hide but I have to believe there are countless ways to say leave me alone that wouldn’t include going in public in a mouse mask. Sorta defeats the premise imho.
