Do you think they feel pain as much as a vertebrate? I mean I always thought the writhing certain lower creatures do after they die wasn’t dependent on them still feeling, but a simple reaction of the muscles.

Impossible to know for sure but I do know they reacted to the heat and additional cutting even after cut in half. Definitely a strong frantic reaction similar to what we would do when “pain”. It was not simply writhing randomly.

IMO it is because they don’t have a central brain. It is all distributed and large pieces definitely stay alive a long time when the lobster is very fresh.

I no longer eat lobster because IMO it is not healthy to eat animals that have suffered or sat in a filthy tank. I get all my meats from farmers that I know treat animals well
