Speaking of cars, there's a little controversy sorrounding the Lincoln JFK rode in on that day. Here's an exact replica of the car

According to the VIN it was a 1961 model, but has a grille from a 1962 Lincolns, which were very different.

To add to the mystery according to someone who was a supervisor in the gov't inter-agency motor pool at that time, he remembered this car sustaining front end damage from a minor accident a few months earlier in DC, but there was no incident report or any repair order issued. I never gave much credence to the theories floating around over the years, JFK was loved by many, but he also pissed off many who would take him out if they had the chance. IMO if anyone was involved in any sort of conspiracy it would be LBJ, he hated the Kennedys with a passion. Seems he saw the VP as an alliance of convenience so he could one day be Pres. Especially after listening to Levin the other night explaining the lengths he went to to sabotage Goldwater's campaign, way worse than Watergate.

Joan Crawford reportedly told JFK to be brave and leave off the bubble top of the car.
She was in Dallas that day with Dick Nixon.

Forgot to say that hardly anyone EVER discusses the fact that LBJ was riding in the car directly behind JFK, and he had the best view of the shooting.
It would be a real premium for a murderer to be able to watch his enemy’s head get blown off.

LBJ didn’t even seek a second elected term.
For a man who’d allegedly murdered JFK to become president, it queers that conspiracy theory.

The 1961 and 1962 Lincoln Continentals were both designed by Elwood Engel, who replaced noted Chrysler designer Virgil Exner in 1961. Engel also designed my 1964 Plymouth Fury, by the way. You can compare the Grills. They look much the same.
