Yep. As a matter of fact, it mostly is.

A pimp is a manager. His job is to find the white "Johns" who will pay more money and cause less trouble. Girls with pimps often earn more money than girls without pimps, even after giving the pimp his customary 25% cut. Most pimps are guys with day jobs and not the Cadillac-driving, leopard-skin cape wearing Hollywood cartoon.
