Public records demonstrate SERCO’s concentrated effort to woo the U.S. government. In recent years, it has spent more than a million dollars on lobbying and political activities, including $6,450 donated to President Obama’s election campaign, according to the Sunlight Foundation.

This year, as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) was considering proposals for insurance-exchange work, SERCO spent $100,000 to hire Greenberg Traurig to lobby regarding the “implementation of [the] Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” according to January registration papers.

In July 2013 SERCO was awarded a $1.25 billion contract to manage the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The Obama administration must have known about SERCO’s checkered history, even as it was being lobbied to award the corporation an ACA insurance-exchange contract. Any one of these scandals would have been troubling enough, but taken together they make you wonder what the U.S. government was thinking — as with so much of the rest of Obamacare.

In 2015 SERCO was awarded a three-year extension on a Navy C4ISR contract.

Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) extended SERCO’s participation in the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity Global Installation Contract.

SERCO will continue to support the Navy with the installation and testing C4ISR systems. The company will provide program management, engineering design and installation services at shore facilities and on surface ships and other Navy platforms around the world.
