I saw this and thought - what the heck, Brazil is a major oil exporter, with a relatively conservative President - what is going on???

As this article suggests, and others point out in more detail* this is a classic example of how gov’t corruption can ruin an economy, and more.

Sobering stuff. VERY sobering stuff.

I think a strong case can be made that the penalties for Gov’t corruption need to be much more draconian, including the death penalty in particularly egregious cases. (Basically, such cases would qualify as treason.)

What happened to their off-shore oil that “we” paid for them to develope?

And their massive home grown alcohol fuels that they used to undermine our market with?

They should have some of the cheapest fuel in the world.
