A reasonably well-educated person (high school or college) with some common sense would know that summa cum laude is the phrase that should be on the cake despite what the online ordering system told them.

They are most likely instructed not to make any changes from the on-line order. As they are not supposed to second guess the customer’s order. The person who ordered the cake should have gone to the bakery in person to place the order. After all she was the one that o.k’d the online order before sending it.

And when ordering in person make sure the clerk has neat writing. My daughter got a pink house on her cake instead of a pink horse.

Doesn’t matter. They are not allowed to second guess orders. Why didn’t the parent say anything when they picked up the cake? It would have taken a few minutes to fix.
