Another EXAMPLE of poor journalistic skills. Or maybe it was on purpose.
They do it so they wont be sued. To write someone crashed their vehicle taints a potential jury’s perception.
Lawyers. Blame the lawyers for papers having to write in idiotic form when covering accidents.
I once did autocross for a year or two. One event, I was next in line to go, and the official let a guy go ahead of me.
The official tells me [about the interloper] "He's getting married in a few hours, so we're letting him get his runs in..."
(There's a minimum tire cool-down period between runs (per vehicle, ie, husband/wife sharing, etc.), so they let him run again as soon as the clock allowed.)
