Unfortunately, you’re right about George Lucas and Star Wars (especially the whole anti-American angle, which unlike, say, his claim that Vader was always meant to be Luke’s father or his claim that Greedo had always shot first, this bit actually IS backed up by his 1973 development notes. Lucas just had to be be too overtly injecting politics by lines that deliberately echoed George W. Bush.
