Well if they had read “The Monster in The Garden” they might have made better decisions than they did.
I grew up in a suburb some 30 miles north of San Francisco in the 60’s. Walking home from school a mountain lion strolled across the street some 100 yards from me, stopped in the middle of the street and stared at me. I will never forget those eyes and that tail. I froze. Then it turned and slowly strolled off between houses. I looked around and I was completely alone. No cars no people in the middle of the afternoon. I froze because I was curious. I should have been frightened and would have been if I knew then what I know now.

The Monster in the Garden is quite a book about Mountain Lions & Libs, I encourage everyone to read it. I too had an encounter when taking out the trash in the pre dawn darkness at work some 20 odd yers ago. Two lions not more than 7 feet from me and only the loud bang of the lid on the metal dumpster when I slammed it shut made them run off.
