Just because somebody's "retired" doesn't mean he/she can't get back into the game. Just takes a little more time (and black coffee) to get outta the sack and crank up the terminal in the morning (or whenever you think you're most productive).

That said, unless there's been a major shakeup (JMHO), NASA couldn't manage much but a bigger budget request for next year. /mega sarc

The downturn in Aerospace during the late 80/90s created a hole in the labor force in the 40 to 55 year old range, senior talent base. Some of the larger companies are having problems meeting obligations with the young folk.
