I agree. I seek understanding of people, but often get caught up in the humor of the facade they try to present and judge them. Rather than being judgemental, it is better that I pray for the entire family that they find true peace in God.
(I am just as critical and judgemental of myself and need to laugh more at me. Ever since I learned to laugh at myself I have never run out of humor!)
Had a friend who almost got put out the military under the Clinton force reduction program, his wife lock him out the house until a First MSgt would promise not to boot him out.
He was able to stay in the military not because of his wife, but because enough people took the separation pay offer.
I often wonder if his Wife beats him. I know of about 4 guys with wife’s who beat them.

All her sorority sisters married lawyers, investment bankers, and boys with trust funds. She married the fellow who would be the next Rory McIlroy. Her girlfriends all have their 5,000 sq ft homes at the top country clubs. She still has only an ordinary suburban 4 bedroom home because Lucas is only an average golfer.

She met a blonde gal who was only a friend of mine -- never romantic -- but when the ginger had 5 minutes alone with her she scared the livin bejeezus out of the blondie. Told her to say away from me, that we were engaged and already shopping for rings, etc. etc.
