One question: Are Heartworms contagious to other dogs?
I would be very concerned about bringing such an animal home to meet my present dogs.

Your other dogs should already be taking heartworm prevention medication, or you could lose them to it.

Heart worms are passed to dogs by infected mosquitoes.

One question: Are Heartworms contagious to other dogs? No, they are spread through mosquito bites. We've had two rescue dogs that had to go through treatments. It is expensive but it was worth it.
