FOR ALL THOSE WITH TOLERABLE TO WONDERFUL MOTHERS ...

MAY YOU have treasured memories and/or treasured dialogues today. May you sons have the courage and diligence to talk about things that mostly mothers are intensely interested in hearing. May you daughters deepen the friendly mother/daughter bond.

May all needs for confession, repentance, forgiveness be earnestly shared.

For those who had in competent, inadequate, troubled or even mean, harsh, crazy and/or abusive mothers--

May God bring you healing and forgiveness. Your mothers obviously had inadequate mothering themselves. Forgiveness doesn't mean the other person had no responsibility for their behavior. It merely means you are responsible to release yourself from playing detective, judge, jury & executioner about your mother's flaws. Leave it to God. He alone can handle such priorities with perfect compassion and perfect justice.

If you had a troublesome etc. mother, and you haven't yet, please sit down and write her a vulnerable, candid, releasing letter--even if she's graduated from this life. if she's still alive--consider visiting her or phoning her and doing YOUR PART toward healing and restoration. Even if you have to be the one with the big underwear on--do it--God can enable surprising miracles if we will but step out with courage and humility.

LIFE IS SHORT. We are wise to be about healing, restoration or creating better relationships. None of us are perfect. If we want forgiveness, The Lord's Prayer shows us we MUST forgive. Pride is a stupid ticket to hell.

Every mother has some redemptive, admirable quality. God can give us creative ways to affirm that which is worthy affirming.

Some minor things can be lain aside and forgotten. Niggling things with a 'high octane ping' attached need the air cleared. It's worth doing many times over. Then healing and true loving exchanges can build worthwhile memories.

For those with pretty decent or wonderful mothers--build some memories anew. Remember treasured times again. Rub her tired/stooped shoulders. Write sincere emotionally loaded word kisses. Do the task you've promised you'd get done months ago. Touch her heart and enlarge yours in doing so.

GOD'S BEST TO ALL THE MOTHERS ... and to all their children given the chance for life and growth by such mothers.
