I was thinking that Trump should call the governor and tell him the things he could to help his political career when it occurred to me that Mueller would use something like that (legal) to create an implication that Trump had done something illegal, like Blagojevich (illegally selling the seat.) Mueller would claim that the promise of benefits was the same as the promise of money. Of course, in politics, that happens thousands of times a day, but so do phone calls between an incoming administration and the Russian ambassador, yet here we are.
