Starving to death is reportedly very painful. That likely will not work as a long-term solution. If a person has profound medical issues that are insurmountable, there must be a way to maintain dignity.

reduce your fluid intake and your food for a few days...as you grow weaker, you become less interested in anything but rest and sleep...
if one has a bad disease and they want to kill themselves, I guess no one can stop them but as a taxpayer I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR IT nor do I want to read about it glorified in the newspaper....
