We “old people” laugh under our breath at statements like that...knowing how fast you will grow “old”, and you won’t even realize it until you’re there.
When I was younger, I laughed at “old people” too, but have learned that it is “they”, who have the last life. An old codger of 80 KNOWS he’ll live to 80...but a 30 year old doesn’t know for sure.
