Not really. Life itself is filled with joy. People, nature, art, music. You might need religion to find joy, but not everyone does. It’s good to realize that other people can find happiness on different philosophical foundations.
And that vacuum is readily filled by the collectivism and promises of security by the state and the states followers fanatically enforce it for the states tables scraps of stuff like subsistence fodder and ethereal life extension efforts from the medical industry that earn them a few extra miserable years in exchange for all the wealth they’ve ever generated...
