You make an excellent point. I admit my first reaction to seeing the building was sheer terror. Once they know PJT’s location at a particular time, bad actors could do very bad things. At first I worried about NK actors getting our president somewhere THEY could do something, but it was actually the relaxed and joyful smile on Kim’s face in photo after photo that convinced me that he really had, for his own reasons, wanted this reconciliation to happen. And if he’s looking at Vietnam as a model for the future, then he’s thinking past initial reconciliation to the mechanisms of his long term goals and this isn’t a trick.

1. The whole idea of the FBI placing a mole inside the Trump campaign infuriates me. It goes against everything laid out to Federal investigators in the DOJ investigative guidelines in dealing with public political figures.

2. The DOJ guidelines rightfully contained special directions in dealing with allegations against political figures, particularly to ensure that politicians and their supporters could not use the justice system to attack and undermined their opponents.
3. The first limitation was that we had 90 days verify the validity of the complaint. And we could not use intrusive methods to achieve that verification. In other words, no search warrants, no wiretaps, no undercover operations. We could conduct interviews and subpoena records.
4. There were some circumstances where we could extend the 90-day limitation, usually because the return on subpoenas could take more than 90 days. But we had to have a good reason, and it had to be approved by DOJ.
5. The FBI knew early on that this Trump prosecution was politically-driven. But because Obama had put in place corrupt persons in charge, it was allowed to go forward. That in itself should be the reason to quash this whole farce and fire everyone who has perpetuated it.
