“In the demo, as each attendee walked in, the device identified each person and greeted them by first name. When the leader, Amjadi, entered, the device also asked her whether she wanted to start the meeting. As Amjadi did so, a nearby Surface Hub began transcribing the conversation, separately taking meeting notes of key tasks.”

Just wait until Cortana puts the Pillar of Autumn down on the Halo Ring.
Then, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

No, just wait until she goes Rampant. Then we’re all screwed.

It’s not enough that our computers eavesdrop on us? Now they want to watch us 24/7???

Hi Megan, Im Cortana! Im seeing that your bra needs to be replaced. Would you like me to order you one from one of Microsofts partners? Besides the privacy issue, there's the recommendation issue.
When I do an internet search for a product I know the engine I use will have a bias for a product. I compensate for this by scrolling down to see what other choices there are.
These internet helpers are going to steer people to only designated sites limiting choice.
The choice will be made for you.

Is Cortana’s husband named Hal?

And it's a great personal trainer too.
'Smith!' screamed the shrewish voice from the telescreen. '6079 Smith W.! Yes, YOU! Bend lower, please! You can do better than that. You're not trying. Lower, please! THAT'S better, comrade. Now stand at ease, the whole squad, and watch me.' A sudden hot sweat had broken out all over Winston's body. His face remained completely inscrutable. Never show dismay! Never show resentment! A single flicker of the eyes could give you away.

The better to SEE you with, my dear...

Replace the word “product” with “candidate” and that is what drives ALL of this.

In George Orwell’s ‘1984’ the gov’t installed the ‘telescreens’ that spied on you.
Orwell couldn’t have imagined that we’d be dumb enough to buy them ourselves.

That’s nothing, there are toilets designed to check your bio status from your visits.
Imagine your employer looking over the contents of your fatty diet.

Samsung and schools already spy on users. Long before Alexa/Siri/Cortana/NSA.

Great product!
Bill Gates spying, recording your private meetings and selling the information to your competitors.
Low IQ business managers are eager to buy it.

And people say I’m nuts for not using the cloud or having a smart speaker or a smart TV.
This whole “invasion of privacy” thing is rapidly going down the wrong road. Sooner or later this technology is gonna have to pay up and that’s when all Hell is going to break loose.

When I search for a specific business by its exact name, I get four or five other suggestions for companies who sell the same product before I get the one I’m looking for. Infuriating.
