Millennials are waiting longer to have sex, with one in eight still virgins at 26 years old, new research has found.
The sharp rise in the number of young people waiting longer to have sex may be because of a "fear of intimacy" and the pressure of social media, according to analysts.
The Next Steps project, the brainchild of the Department for Education which is now managed by University College London, has tracked 16,000 people born in 1989-90 since they were 14.
The interviews, conducted in 2016, discovered a rise in the number of Millenials waiting longer to have sex compared to previous generations, where one in 20 reported still being virgins at around the same age.
Susanna Abse, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist at the Balint Consultancy, told the Sunday Times: "Millenials have been brought up in a culture of hypersexuality which has bred a fear of intimacy.

People tell pollsters & surveys a lot of things, and often they don’t tell the truth, or the whole truth. The last election being such a case. Women are notorious for not telling the truth about their sexual lives.
While its good more young people are waiting to have (hopefully saving themselves for marriage), I don’t think it’s for moral puposes. I work with a number of millennials and most of them lack basic social skills (they are far adept at texting or emailing). It’s gotta be hard to get laid when you can barely speak.

Tell me about it. Stick it in the wrong socket and there goes 3 years of college, and quite possibly a guy’s entire future.
For that reason, I always kept my kids close - they NEVER lived in a dorm, and only rarely lived outside of the house, until they graduated. At that point, Obama’s Department of Education no longer had their hands on them.

Easy solution - send him overseas, to a culture where men are still valued as men and where women don’t IMMEDIATELY tell their girlfriends and sisters to DIVORCE!, DIVORCE!, DIVORCE! the first time they argue over the price of a hairdoo.

Where overseas? European women are easily as utilitarian and self-centered as any women in the world.

Wow: weak “males”, strong “females”, can’t tell time, don’t/can’t drive, no career, gamer weeny, basement dweller.

Agree on Western Europe, likely worse than even here. Eastern Europe and Russia are better. But Asia is still likely the best overall. But obviously the key is the specific families - have there been divorces in those families. My wife has 7 siblings, not a single divorce in something like 220 years of combined marriage, and no talk of divorce, at all. I doubt any of them wants to be the first either...they’ll stick it through, even if it means some struggles, at times.

I think marriage always involves struggle. In my personal opinion, those that don’t involve struggle likely involve a partner who is somewhat withdrawn and who won’t ‘fight’, no matter what. You’re absolutely right about sticking it through. If by the end or your life you can say that you have by your side someone you’ve shared a large amount of life with, who knows who you are, and truly loves you, you have been successful in life.

Another anti-millennials thread. Bashing the youth is so new, no generation has EVER tried that before. And some are bashing for the sex and some are bashing for the lack of sex. Like you guys were never young.
One night when my son was about 16 or 17 (10 years ago), he said he was going out to see friends who had driven up. He didn’t return, so after about 30 minutes I ambled down the driveway to see what was going on. His friends car was sitting out there, windows rather fogged up, but there was an eerie blue glow from inside the car.
When I was a teen, fogged windows meant only one thing. But, in this case, it was the two guys in the front seat on their cell phones and the two girls in the back seat on their cell phones.
It was at that exact moment I knew that all the technologies were not helping the human race much.
Feminists have made women much more of a danger to men. Possibly even the act of flirting can get you fired. Divorce laws are usually in the woman’s favor. On the other hand, mass media portrays men as stupid, selfish brutes and women as flawless. I’m not trying to knock women but even women with a strong mind might be tempted to give into the propaganda that men are useless and incapable of adding joy and stability to her life and that she is absolutely blameless for not finding a good man and starting a successful family.
The young guys should hook up with older women. No one complains.

Internet porn is no doubt the primary reason for this, but government education can also be heavily faulted. A generation that has grown up with little opportunity to acquire a grounding in Western culture is a generation who make decidedly uninteresting prospective marriage partners.
When God formed man, and woman from man, a natural drive accompanied our anthropology. Women will always have a natural drive to support their man in return for an intimacy from his love. Some women may scar their souls, reject what God provides, pulling a pin on a grenade of arrogance and fracture their lives in rejecting that desire, but it is a very basic desire.
If there is a fear of intimacy, it is a reaction from ignoring one's past sin, i.e. missing the mark of how we have been made. The proper response is to first return to God, recognize His Plan still prevails, and He provides easily of intimacy and profound marital love.

True, but he isn’t looking for “most girls today.” He has a target and achievable goal. And he’ll not be 18 forever—thank the Lord.
