I wonder if that 320 degree separation could itself cause an explosive risk?

Apollo One astronauts Roger Chaffee, Virgil Gus Grissom and Ed White II were unavailable for comment.
Either their launch abort system works as intended, or it doesn’t. If it works, then the crew will be safe. If not, then the crew should NEVER get near the rocket.
