Prabhu Bhatara was on his way back to Papadahandi, a town in the state of Odisha, with others in an SUV after a wedding. Along the way home, the driver saw a wounded bear on the side of the road. His friends told him not to leave the vehicle to take a selfie with the wild animal, but he ignored their pleas. He got close to the bear, which started chasing him. It then mauled him, and he "died on the spot," forest ranger Dhanurjaya Mohapatra told the Hindustan Times.
The passengers in the SUV saw the entire incident. Officials said they chose to film the scene on their phones instead of calling for help. The only one to help Bhatara was a stray dog, which jumped into action and tried to free him from the bear. The dog's efforts failed, officials said.
The bear is being treated for its injuries, Mohapatra told the Hindustan Times.

The dog turned out to be a better human than the humans were. Of course, the dog probably didn’t have a smartphone,

So, how long after the guy was killed before the videos were on Twit/Facef*ck/Instashiite?

Granted that this guy gets the Darwin Award for the week, I think. (Maybe for both reasons: Choice of actions; choice of friends!)

Sometimes you get the bear. Sometimes the bear gets you. My key alert was the wounded bear. Really you are going to screw around with a wounded animal? I hope he didnt have any kids. The gene pool has enough stupid in it.

Every aspect of this story is unbelievable. The dog has the best character of them all.
Did you see the article right after it about the cockroach lodged in the woman’s ear? It gave me the shivers.

A lot of people are being nasty and accusatory of the actions of the people around him. They act and sound like those numbskulls who were blaming the crowd and zoo employees when Knut, the orphaned polar bear stroked out, fell in the lagoon and drowned. They whined and moaned that no one helped Knut. How would you help a 900-to-1,200 pound polar bear that fell into a deep pool of water if you didn't have a crane at hand? If you DID have a crane at hand.
So how would you suggest someone who lives in a society that will not kill an animal for fear of throwing a glitch into their own spiritual state and the spiritual state of the bear, lives in a state with very strict gun laws, and is definitely afraid of an animal that can easily kill them, as they just witnessed, help him except for throwing rocks at the bear, as some tried?
C'mon, folks. The fault is not with the crowd of people. The fault is with the numbskull who thought it would be a good idea to take a selfie with a wild animal, and that animal attacked and killed him.

How’s that the saying go: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Weirdest part for me is this guy stopped off to take a selfie with a wounded bear - while he was driving a bunch of people to attend a wedding. Who thinks like that? If it wasn’t so sad and stupid, it would be an over -the-top skit for SNL. I wonder if the wedding guests made it to the nuptials on time. And boy, what kind of reception took place after the ceremony? Lots of Sula Sauvignon consumed, I imagine
