The white eyes assigned their own words (coup) to the act. Or maybe the Indian word sounded similar to "coup". I assure you that the Indian word didn't have a silent P in it. The poor injuns didn't even invent the wheel or windows yet, much less the silent P (or the loud P, for that matter) nor nouns.
We must all be aware of our white privilege when discussing the ways of our red, black, or brown brothers.
