I don’t think Dr. C. is “profiting” per se; he has a lot of time + efforts + reputation invested that is skin in the game. Rather as example I recall the soapbox YouTube channel getting hijacked by some other “White Rabbit” channel that was actually live streaming their livestream and had a donations button whereas the source did not ;)
I disagree I see lots of people here on youtube on 8chan and 4chan and elsewhere Voluntarily contributing their time thoughts and information found, Others sell on it Amazon for $18 hardcover $28 audio cd...
