The non elite connected field operators and offices are probably getting red pulled themselves. Compartmentalizations have probably kept loads of those guys in the dark and thinking they were just doing their “patriotic duty”.
When one is desperately trying to keep just one's nose above the water line and provide food, clothing & shelter for family ... it's hard to notice deeper realities very well and insightfully.
