What has been released, with redactions, are the precursor. (See Q post 1278).
Are we prepared to know everything in those text messages? Yep. No doubt. Absolutely.
Is the rest of the country ready for it? Probably not.
Putting these out now the way they did gets people comfortable with the understanding that these are indeed texts between those two people. Less likely to start screaming ‘Fake Texts’. Once that is accomplished, if legally permitted, Congress can release them without redactions.
(And maybe release some we have not seen yet. Hmmm)
