Thanks for the info on GEDmatch. I had never heard of it but when I heard that he was identified through DNA, at first I thought of 23 and me. This is a very interesting case. Especially since the bad guy was a cop.

You’re welcome! GEDmatch is a blessing and from what I know, a wealthy philanthropist got it all started and it exists solely by donations. I am thankful for it as an adopted person for it has connected me with my birth family. As someone who doesn’t trust our government, I was hesitant in using the service as the thought had occurred to me it could be used against us but for me, finding my birth family was more important to me than the possibility the service exists for nefarious reasons.
