I would love to have a 70s Pinto. You can mod out the safety concerns.
Besides any pre-mid 70s car is pretty much a scary ride based on brake capability. People are used to being able to stop on a dime now; back then you were given some space between cars, just because. Now you give someone 12 feet in front of you and someone is going to fill it.
It wasn’t all that bad...if you filled it with water and put some fish in it.
I owned a Pacer, too. Very comfortable station wagon; lots of room inside. But it had a very fragile power steering, which required you to replace the entire front end when something went wrong.
