Jeff Sessions testified at a senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on the Justice Department's fiscal year 2019 budget request. In addition to funding matters, he answered questions on a range of topics under his jurisdiction involving the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program, "sanctuary cities" that shelter illegal immigrants and do not use local resources to enforce federal immigration law, the opioid epidemic ,and the legalized recreational use of marijuana in some states. He was also asked questions concerning his recusal from the Russia election investigation, and whether it applies to the federal criminal probe into President Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen
