It's a boy: Kate, wife of UK's prince William, gives birth

LONDON, April 23 (Reuters) - Kate, the wife of Prince William, gave birth to a boy on Monday at a hospital in London, the third child for the British royal couple. Kensington Palace said the baby was born at 1001 GMT and weighs 8 lbs 7oz. William was present for the birth at St Mary's Hospital in west London where their other two children, George and Charlotte, were also born, it added. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news," Kensington Palace said. "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

The new prince is Queen Elizabeth's sixth great-grandchild and fifth-in-line to the British throne behind siblings Prince George, 4, his two-year-old sister Princess Charlotte, their father William, and grandfather and heir Prince Charles.

A 2013 change to the law means the boy will not supplant older sister Charlotte in the line of succession.

"That would in fact be the first time that has ever happened," royal historian Huge Vickers said. However, William's younger brother Harry, who marries U.S. actress Meghan Markle next month, falls to sixth on the list.

Kensington Palace said the name of the new royal would be announced in due course. Bookmakers had made Albert, Arthur, Jack and Fred the favourite names for a boy. (Editing by Guy Faulconbridge)

There will always be that strange breed who care not a fig for British royalty and yet insist on clicking on a post about it. I find such a mindset to be puzzling. I suppose they enjoy declaring their indifference, or even their contempt, so let us hope they gain some satisfaction from this thread.

I, for one, echo your thoughts, and thank you for your kind comment.

May God bless the little prince.

Even Maxwell Silverhammer, a lovely, bouncy little tune about a serial killer. It’s what they used to call a ‘Toe-Tapper’.

Allegedly that's the song that ultimately broke up the Beatles, because the other band members were upset that Paul was spending so much time on getting that song right, it led to the row that wound up breaking up the band.

I never heard about that before. That this song may have led to their breakup. When something like that happens, it’s often a ‘Straw that broke the camel’s back” situation.
The group was likely on thin ice already, this was all it took to push a hole in the surface.

Apparently, they were able to repair the relationship before:
“I’m fixing a hole, where the rain gets in, and stops my mind from wandering...”

I care so little about them that I will not even open this thread, much less post anything in it!

I do admit that I look at threads like these to see how many people post that sort of reaction.

THey ought to break with tradition, forget the stuffy names, and call him Prince. Prince Prince. Who could beat that?

And then some of us know our history and have a good idea about what some of the royals have gotten up to over the years, including lately. I’m happy to hear mom and baby are doing well, but if the UK fired all their royals tomorrow, I’d be doing a happy dance for the UK.

The relationships were frayed since at least as far back as the “White Album”, with Harrison walking out of the studio in a huff at one point, and McCartney basically recording all the instruments on some of his songs instead of collaborating with anyone else in the band. Of course, that was also the point where John was insisting that Yoko be in the studio when none of the other wives were there, which also caused a lot of tension.

Congratulations to them, babies are a blessing. Hopefully they can stop lecturing the rest of us not to have more than two kids.

Paul was always brimming with catchy melodies. Even Maxwell Silverhammer, a lovely, bouncy little tune about a serial killer.

I was hoping they would have a girl and name her Nannette. But an Englishwoman I know doesn't think that's an appropriate name for an English princess. She remarked, "no, no, Nannette!"
