There was some speculation to strong assertions that without illegal immigration, we’d be in the same boat—strictly on birth rate etc. etc. etc.
We were supposed to have a shortage of workers and rising income during the early 2000s. Immigration killed that off.
Same thing happened in the late 1800s. Same reason: unrestricted immigration.
