I've heard that expression before, but never stopped to wonder what it meant. When I was in active service (army), there was no such punishment that I was aware of. There were article 15s and court martials, but being removed from your post? Have they been kicked out of the Guard (a bit severe imo) or just been demoted and/or fined, or what?
They were probably asked to resign from the Guard and revert to inactive status in the Army Reserve, where they are on their own to try & find a drilling reservist slot.
Anyway, very stupid Obama-era move.
The Colonel and Master Sgt were “relieved”, as we used to call it. That is, they were relieved of the position they had previously held.
