“And maybe the US will finally accept that Saudi Arabia is NOT an ally.”

Churchill said, “Nations don’t have friends, nations have common interests.” Saudi Arabia is not an ally. We do, however, have common interests. Those interests give the US the advantage in the area when it comes to dealing with Iran.

People may wonder why the US supports any of the recent Saudi governments (as represented by their kings.) It’s because a Saudi Arabia that is run by somebody else has the potential to be orders of magnitude worse than Iran. The current leader is the first Saudi King to attempt to change the direction Saudi Arabia has been going. If he succeeds, Saudi Arabia may become a much more agreeable partner in the world’s various games. If he fails and is replaced by a hardliner, then not only will Saudi Arabia devolve into a worse Hell, it will take much of the Middle East with it.

If the Saudis hate terrorists as much as we do and are willing to take them on so we can get the hell out of the middle east,we can be friends.
