The only type of opioid I’m willing to take is pure, tiny codeine without empirin. For my body, they work on the pain with no side effects and I always call my doctor to let them know when a dental procedure requires them so I have a cross check on what’s happening. I figure that full transparency will catch any potential problems and STILL let me deal with pain. They don’t work for my husband, so my guess is that everyone needs to transparently experiment under doctor’s observation to discover what works for their particular physiology.

I have to be careful about all of that stuff. Im very easily addicted.
And in this case, the pain is useful - its a good reminder of my stupidity and it lets me know immediately when I try to do too much with my arm before its healed, like zipping my fly.
