IIRC, I tested something similar: 14” barrel, birdshot, spread was about 1” for each yard distance. Under 7” spread at 20 ft may improve your chances of a hit, but isn’t the “can’t miss” too many people believe in.
Thanks, ctdonath2. You are correct. Not much spread - and Simon, I never said it was a big spread, but even a few inches wide circle is a lot more that a .223 bullet... A 2-inch miss with the rifle is a hit with the shotgun.
