I just happened to catch Boston v. Baltimore from Fenway yesterday at a restaurant. The weather looked absolutely dreadful; cold and raw. Fans were in winter coats and blankets. Who wants to spend three+ hours in that? Maybe the first ten rows of seats had fans in them. There are plenty of solutions to starting so early in Spring but that would mean less money and/or inconvenience for the players. If they would rather play in 30 degree weather in April than double headers in summer so be it.

Yes, the weather along the east coast has been crap this spring.... I would expect MLB numbers to be miserable.

Personally I think it’s because they keep screwing with the game and are turning it into something that is no longer baseball.
No more bang-bang plays at the plate.
No more hard slides at second base.
LOOOOOOOONG delays to review umpires’ calls.
(Except balls and strikes, the things that really NEED reviewed)
Inning break clocks, pitch clocks, and limiting visits to the mound.
Minor leagues starting extra innings with a man on second.
I pay to see baseball. Not this mashed-up figment of Rob Manfred’s imagination.

The Indians have just finished five home games, followed by two rainouts. the temperatures have been in the 30s with a stiff wind howling in across the Lake from Canada. Idk just what the attendance was for those five games, but only a diehard or a fool would have subjected himself to baseball in such foul weather.
Meanwhile the NBA is setting records for attendance.

It’s the weather. It could last for the season if people don’t get involved in following the season the first few months. JMHO

More double-headers instead of early April games... Yes, in Boston it’s a tradition to have a Patriots Day game in April at Fenway, but Chris Sale yesterday said he didn’t have control on the baseball...(today’s game was postponed...)

It’s mostly the weather. But let’s be honest - when a lot of people tuned out the NFL and NBA due to their anti-Trump politics, they found it surprisingly easy to keep on tuning out the other professional sports, too.

The answer is pretty obvious looking at the weather in the north.

Restore the intentional walk. Get rid of the designated hitter and eliminate regular season inter-league play. Make it baseball again.
