Bottom-right and middle-left look like butterfly yo-yos. I guess the dark center is dark because denser matter blocks the light... but the yoyo shape still seems odd

Those are pictures you are never going to get with your backyard scope.

I tried getting Andromeda with my Nikon D90 and got zilch. I really have respect for those that get amazing photos, it is a lot more that aiming and a long exposure time.
