I am looking at a few new options, and would like some input.

Im not rich. Ive got glitter sexy Irongirl I-suit on layaway at Kohls. Ill have it just about paid off when the Olympics come to L.A. (yes, of course Ill be on the boys teams)
Up the specs a little bit and get a 13" MacBook Pro from 2016 or later. 250GB solid state drive, 8GB of RAM, no TouchBar. You might spend a little more, but these are rock-solid, super-portable, and will last you a very long time.
I got my ASUS used for about $600 through the FB sale pages.
As for distrusting Google, I’m not really sure I trust any tech company any more.
