When I was a kid in the late 70's I hit the back end of a big parked Ford, not watching where I was going. The handbrake handle of my 10-speed fully punctured the trunk lid.

Still not impressed by Ford cars to this day...

How many “cars” have been injured by bicycles?

When I lived in Seattle I bicycle commuted. I was even a member of the Cascade Bicycle club. But I drove those guys nuts with my conservative viewpoint.

And I was hit four times, but I never went down. And to your point, the cars were all damaged, one pretty bad. They were all the same kind of accident. I’m in the bike lane and a car takes a right, without signalling, with me smashing into the side of their car. The reason I never went down was because I am always watching for that sort of thing and have learned to hit the car and then ride it around the corner. I did kinda catch my arm on a passenger side mirror in one of those. It hurt a bit and ripped the mirror off the car.

I never had any other kind of accident because I was always watching for oncoming cars to make left turns in front of me and stuff like that. I always had an exit route.

BTW, I don’t really ride much any more. I stopped commuting by bike back around 2007. Cell phones and texting made it WAY too dangerous.

“How many cars have been injured by bicycles?” Count me as one. I was in Colorado Springs and a bicyclist rammed into the rear of my car, put a great big dent in the trunk (it was a rental). He hot-footed out of there. Fortunately, after removing the liner of the trunk lid the dent popped back into place and the rental company was none the wiser.

I have been riding bikes forever it seems, less lately, but never rode on streets amongst cars. And as a car driver, I feel lucky to have never hit a bike as too many ride like the own the road, without regard to the bigger, heavier, and more deadly car.

For someone to have been hit multiple times says they are not riding safely or in a safe area. Granted, one was a drunk, but still...

I owned a 1986 Ford T-Bird. While the car was in the shop (Goodyear) they were out test driving it after a repair. A guy on a bicycle darted right in front of them (from the side of the road) and they hit him causing him to roll onto the hood. He wasn't injured, but the car had to have the dents knocked out of the hood. I also had a tire replaced under warranty that was damaged when it ran over the bicycle.

I’ve been hit twice by bicycles. My car, actually. Both times my car was stopped.

One time there was very little damage done by a bicyclist coming down the wrong way on a one way street. The other time, the guy hit my car, careened down the street and damaged the entire side of a brand new BMW.
