I prefer No_Doll_i’s format too. Maybe combine it with bitt’s “start with post XX” so that folks know where the FReepers start their discussion and posts? Or do folks just read back up thread to find the info posted dissecting the drops? :)
I’d appreciate opinions from FReepers - I know some of my Pingees dislike long pings (or disliked them at first). Could we have some FReeper input? If you have likes/dislikes re pings could you FReepmail me and No_Doll_i with your ideas.(don’t want to fill the thread with side chat). We will do the best we can to accommodate the most people. :)
RE PINGING TO THE NEW Q’S..
I ping a Q drop to LucyT’s general news ping list, and tell them where to start cuz they don’t all hang out on the Q thread.
If I don’t think the Ransomnote list has been pinged, then I ping that too.
Maybe No_Doll pings it too, and then maybe you also do.
If anyone complains about being notified TOO MANY times, tough. It’s a free service and we never know who is on the board and ready to ping. :)
The great news is that whoever catches the latest Q posts it right away. The more the merrier.
If you don’t mind, I like both formats, for differing reasons.
Your format allows for rather quick turnaround without a lot of effort (or so I would imagine). This IMHO has value in a quickly changing news situation.
NDI’s format allows convenient sponging by the reader of the primary source Q information. This also has obvious value. However, it is difficult to generate NDI’s format without your format as a prerequisite, to prevent creep.
Ideally there could IMHO be a third stage consisting of a succinct analysis based on consensus of the first two stages. However, difficulties might include defining succinct, consensus, and finding a volunteer who can generate timely, consistent and knowledgeable analyses. Eg, the analysis could wait until a thread on a given set has been “retired” in the current sense (it however runs the risk of re-opening a previously “retired” thread, which in turn might or might not introduce a notion of multi-stage thread retirement).
