On the NORSE map..there is a place in Cal. that is really getting a lot of attacks. Is that area near the recent earthquake area?

Depends on the distance you refer to as "near." Catalina Island is roughly off the coast of Los Angeles. Lots of telecom infrastructure in the LA area, not so much on Catalina Island, I wouldn't think.
