Here's my take.
The entire site (what's above ground and below) is a temple to Osiris/Nimrod (and, ultimately, Satan) and their entire "religion."
It is laid out very precisely according to occult rules of worship and incantation. Everything is a symbol.
The dome itself is a symbol of pregnant womb of Isis, wife of Osiris, or Semiramis, wife of Nimrod (same goddess).
Given the existence of a dome, there should be an obelisk in a circle somewhere on the island which serves as the phallic symbol for Osiris/Nimrod. The correct placement for an obelisk would be at that sundial or compass at the center of the island.
An example of the dome/obelisk combination is the Freemason layout of Washington DC, with the Washington monument positioned directly in front of the Capitol Dome and at the exact center of the Mall.
As you probably know, Nimrod/Osiris are presumably the sons of the fallen angels or of Satan himself.
In the eyes of Satanists, the occult is the world's oldest "religion"...going back to Sumeria and Nimrod and the Tower of Babel after the flood. And in antediluvian times going back to the fall of the "sons of God" who mated with human women (see Genesis 6).
The sundial looks to me to be a sewage treatment installation. Wilson tank?

There is an active pagan group in my area. Personally, I have no experience with the rites, but do know/have known the elders involved as top-ranking female & male leaders.
About 15 years ago, another person I knew was invited to a spring rite. Holes were dug into the ground and participants took turns inserting large wooden shafts into the holes. Don’t recall sizes of elements involved, but there were many of each. Other sexual rites, cookies shaped like human genitalia, public nudity and sex acts with children present. Informant was grossed out and left.

So, I’m speculating an area of pits/holes could be part of some similar ritual. Local group is not violent, so rites could differ. I suppose there are varying cults with different takes on similar rites.

There are multiple flagpoles on the island -- visibly flying flags -- so, the one in the center of that big circle must have additional symbolism beyond serving as a g1nomon for a sundial.
I'll take a much closer look at that central "flagpole" -- and, also search for other possible obelisks/styli or other phallic symbols.
One of the FRLadies (I don't recall who) suggested that we take a look at the pattern formed by the roads -- but she said she couldn't discuss what she saw... I looked -- and the only thing I could make out is that the roads on the EAST point might be interpreted as "stylized phallic".
I hope you -- or other FReepers can look at the road pattern, and see if there's any "there" there...
