I'm not buying the conclusion on the basis of the seismometor output, at least not without knowing more. The fact that the CA event "damped out" quickly compared with Samoa could be just adifference in geology. CA is roughly "sand."

Earthquakes in eastern north america run through granite, so tend to be "felt" over long distances, and to "ring" like a bell. No so in Cali, the underlying geology is different.

That Samoa graph looks odd too, with a persistent background level of vibration. No idea what that is.

People are more on edge than usual, so I would expect an uptick in crank theories and bogus connections. Much of it innocent, but some malicious, taking advantage of public gullibility. Very common for a theory to be advanced with way way insufficient background and facts to enable the conclusion.

What is strange is the literal disappearance of Dutchsinse. He zeros in on small earthquakes in CA, OK, WA via Google Map to see if there a cause for the tremor. Lately he was questioning the “explosions” that showed up in Washington and Oregon.

Then, on the day of the CA earthquake, his earthquake site disappears. It could be that he is switching his operation from YouTube, but it IS strange.
