If I read this correctly, she didn’t want the Bench Seat for herself.
She just wanted one less person seated in it so everyone would be comfortable.

Everyone else would want one less person on their bench seats.

Difference between this lady and the random overweight person spilling into two seats on an airplane is the random airplane passenger can actually BUY two seats.
The issue here may have been weight distribution on the ride itself. Those rides are engineered for a certain amount of weight distributed in a certain way travelling at a specified speed. Exceed the specifications in either way and bad things happen.

If they allowed her request, every one of their customers would be happy. She would be happy, the person not squeezed in next to her would be happy, and the person sitting away from her would be happy. The wait-time for people in line would not have been noticed due to one less person on the ride - not sure if anyone can be happy standing in line, but this wouldn’t have affected anything.
Sounds to me like they screwed up.
