Totally true. Some of the anchors only read the teleprompter. They can't ad lib, they can't say a word that isn't printed in front of them.
A few years ago, at a tv station in a major market, some producers decided to mess with one of the less than bright anchors. The teleprompter printed out: "Hello, this is the six o'clock news and I am _______." They left a blank where the guy's name was supposed to be. The guy stammered. He couldn't even say his own name.
Wish FOX’s Bill Hemmer was on more often. He is one of the most knowledgeable newsman on. He really knows his history and how it effects the world today. Could listen to him for hours but alas he usually is just reading news.
